    The Osceola Public School District has about 240 students with Jeffery Elementary as a PK-5th grade facility, located on the same block as the Middle School/High School facility that houses 6th-12th grade students. Box 198, Osceola, Nebraska 68651 High School 402-747-3121 Elementary 402-747-2091 www.osceolaschools.org Osceola Public Schools is a small rural school located near interstate I-80 and has easy access to Columbus, York, Lincoln, Omaha, Grand Island and Kearney. The district has about 240 students with Jeffery Elementary as a PK-5th grade facility, located on the same block as the Middle School/High School facility that houses 6th-12th grade students. Grades 6-8 operates in a “family” model providing support for younger students transitioning to the middle school experience. The district offers up to date technology through their 1:1 computer initiative for students 3rd-12th grade and 1:1 iPad for students in grades K-2nd grade. At the High School student’s curricular offerings are broad for a small rural school and many students take advantage of dual college credit classes offered on site and through our distance learning programs. Many students graduate with 6-15 hours of college classes already on their transcripts. Bulldog students are able to find classes that meet their educational needs. The "Bulldog Way" Our teachers have adopted the “Bulldog Way” which consists of teaching strategies that benefit student performance. Some of those strategies include, but are not limited to, engaging students in cognitively complex tasks, understanding students' backgrounds and interests, and motivating and inspiring students. D-2 School District The District is a D-2 school in most activities that include football, volleyball, softball, one act, basketball, cheerleading, wrestling, speech, dance, track, and golf. FFA is also an organization that is active in the district with a new updated welding shop. Also, part of the curriculum and activities is a great Art program along with Band and Choir. The district belongs to the 14 school Cross Roads Conference, which includes schools that consistently contend and earn state championships in all the NSAA sponsored activities. The schools of the conference promote sportsmanship as a conference. The district has a TeamMates Mentoring program that serves students in need of guidance and also has a Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization that many students belong to. The Osceola School District also tries to instill good values into our students. Honesty, integrity, compassion, tolerance and inclusion are just some values the district tries to teach students. If you are looking for a good wholesome midwestern values community to settle in and send your kids to school in, Osceola is the place for you!! Osceola Public Addition Osceola District patrons recently passed a $7.7 million bond proposal to Jeffrey Elementary to expand physical education opportunities for elementary students, improve safety and security throughout the district, provide a new kitchen facility, expand activity facilities, and provide the community with a daycare facility and walking track. The district is very appreciative of the support of patrons, as the proposal passed by a solid 2:1 margin. The proposal addresses many needs that the district had and helps to make the district a stronger academic institution moving into the future.

PARKS & RECREATION Osceola, Nebraska OSCEOLA CITY PARK Located at 621 North State Street, between Highway 81/92 and Ridge Street Osceola’s city park offers a basketball, tennis, and pickle ball court, a variety of playground equipment, a 9-hole frisbee golf course, public restrooms, and two sheltered picnic areas. Overnight camping is permitted on the south side for a limit of 3 days on a first come-first serve basis. The main park shelter is available for rental for a picnic gathering, family reunion, or other event. Contact the City Office at 402-747-3411 for rental information. Rental Form THE POCKET PARK Located on the southeast corner of State Street and Hawkeye Street of the downtown square This beautiful mini park was created to promote the historic downtown area and features the renovated Harry Musselman Popcorn Stand, a small stage, benches, fountain, pergola, tables and chairs, a memorial section, and a city directory sign. SWIMMING POOL Located at 621 North State Street in the City Park The pool was originally built in 1978 and updated in 2011. Features of the Olympic-sized pool include zero-depth entry with toddler sprinklers and a slide, two diving boards, and basketball hoop. The pool is open from the end of May to mid-August. Public swimming lessons are provided each year for a nominal fee or you may make arrangements with a lifeguard for private lessons. Water aerobics are also offered. Season passes may be purchased or a daily admission fee may be paid. Facebook Page ARBORETUM Located north of Highway 81/92 between North State and North Nance Street Governors’ Park Arboretum is located just north of Highway 81/92 between North State and North Nance Streets. It features a walking trail and gazebo. It was named after the governors that have come from Osceola: Albinus Nance was the fourth governor (1879-1883) of the state. He was a homesteader who moved from Illinois to Osceola in 1871. John Hopwood Mickey was the 13th governor (1903-1907), and Ashton Shallenberger served as the 15th governor (1909-1911) and then member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He also moved from Illinois. LUCY HOLM MEMORIAL COMPLEX - BALL PARK Located at 1570 129th Road, Osceola The main Ball Park is located south of town on 129th Road and features a baseball field, softball field, and a practice field. The grounds are equipped with bleachers, public restrooms, and a concession stand. A smaller city tee-ball field is located east of the swimming pool at the intersection of North Kimmel and Ridge Streets. By providing appropriate places for each within the fabric of the city we can accommodate the interests of each. The goal is to achieve a rich and vibrant community that many want to visit and reside in. Mobile Food Vendors may only locate at one of the two designated parking stalls at the Food Truck Court on the south side of the City Park, on the date approved on the Mobile Food Vendor Permit Application. RYAN HILL COUNTRY CLUB Located at 13025 N Road, north of Highway 81/92 Ryan Hill Country Club is a beautiful nine-hole, par 33 course. Enjoy gently rolling bent grass greens and a very playable bluegrass rough, consisting of 6 par fours and 3 par threes. This well-conditioned course is playable for all levels. Website Facebook LUCY HOLM MEMORIAL TRAIL Starts at the corner of Beebe and South Nance Streets Osceola’s Hike/Bike Trail starts at the corner of Beebe and South Nance Streets, to the west of Annie Jeffrey Hospital, and runs south out of town past the Fairgrounds and out to the Ball Park. The trail is approximately three-fourths of a mile long. POLK COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS Located south of Osceola on South Nance Street and N Blvd. at 12927 N Blvd. The Fairgrounds are home to the Polk County Fair annually in July. The annual county fair includes 4-H exhibits and livestock/animal shows, rodeo, demolition derby, figure 8 race, 5K fun run, kiddie tractor pull, school art displays, swap meet/flea market, show and shine, concert/dance, and other activities. BOATING Near Osceola, Nebraska Lake North is the closest lake for boating which is located north of Columbus and approximately 28 miles north of Osceola. The center offers monthly blood pressure checks, congregate and home delivered meal service in conjunction with many generous volunteers from within our community. Congregate and home delivered meal program meals are served Monday through Friday and supplied by Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg. The Osceola Senior Center even offers ‘home delivered’ meals on the weekends supplied by the Osceola Good Samaritan Center. We have holiday meals, special meals and potluck meals when there is enough interest. Please let us know at least day in advance if you would like to join us or get a take-out order on regular meal days at (402) 747-8227. Information on nutrition programs is available as well as information and access to exercise programs. We offer free blood pressure checks by Polk County Health Department which are held on the first Tuesday of the month from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Pool and pitch tournaments are held each month, alternating locations, in the four centers in Polk County.
